When creating a metadata description, importing a list of more than 50 names does not seem to work.

  • You are working with Firefox, from a computer running Windows
  • You create a new metadata description, which contains a selection list.
  • You want to import a list that contains more than 50 names :

The import seems to work (you can check in the database, the metadata description contains your information), but you don’t see the form anymore, only the general information is displayed.

This is a Firefox bug in Windows environments (it works very well with Ubuntu). The metadata template modification form is generated by the browser (and not by the server as other forms are), and Firefox reaches its limits: if you activate the Ctrl Shift I mode, you will get a message indicating too many loops.

On the other hand, your form works perfectly well when entering metadata from the sample modification page.

Workaround: use another browser based on the Chrome engine (Chrome, Chromium, Iridium, Vivaldi…).

About Collec-Science

Collec-Science is a tracking software for samples collected as part of scientific experiments. It lets you know where they are stored, who used them, what they became. Open-source software distributed under the AGPL license, Collec-Science was created by INRAE (research unit Aquatic Ecosystems and Global Changes in Bordeaux), and is subject to adaptations within the framework of CNRS workshops ( http://www.cnrs.fr/inee/tools/za_5.html ) , especially to fill in the information directly in the field.
